ANCHORAGE, Alaska (June 14) - AT&T Alascom and the Juneteenth Committee invite the public to join the action at the annual Mayor's 3 on 3 basketball tournament.

The basketball tournament tips off at 9 a.m. and runs through 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 18 at Wendler Junior High School. Up to 40 teams will compete for a championship trophy and bragging rights to one of the most popular events of the celebration.

  • 10 - 12 years old
  • 13 - 15 years old
  • 16 - 18 years old
  • 18 and older

"Juneteenth celebrates culture, diversity and togetherness. We are proud to be a part of this event and hope that a wide cross-section of the community will attend and have a great time," said AT&T Alascom President Mike Felix.

The Juneteenth Celebration will be held on the Delany Park Strip Friday, June 17 through Sunday, June 19 and will include a Children's Festival and a Father's Day barbeque.

Juneteenth symbolizes the end of slavery for African Americans and the healing from the devastation of slavery. Juneteenth is celebrated nationally and with a citywide Juneteenth Celebration in Anchorage each year.
